  Eliza Vanatta, daughter of James and Betsy Vanatta, was born in Pennsylvania, November 26, 1821, and died at the home of her daughter, Mrs W P Zentmire, November 18, 1907, lacking 8 days of being 86 years old. On October 12, 1837, she was married to Richard Kiddoo of Lawrence County, Pennsylvania. To them were born 7 sons and 6 daughters: Mary, deceased; William, LaPlata, Missouri; James, Oswego,Kansas; John, deceased; Thomas, Joy, Illinois; Hannah Artz, Osage City, Kansas; Amos F, Larned, Kansas; Cyrus, LaPlata, Missouri; Adda, deceased; Calvin S, Arco, Minnesota. Besides her own family sheraised two orphan children and two grandchildren. She has 44 grandchildren and 47 great grandchildren living. In the fall of 1845, she came with her husband and family to Mercer County, Illinois, where she resided until her death. In early life, she embraced the religion of Christ and connected herself with the Presbyterian Church of which she was a consistent member until her death. Funeral services were held in the Peniel Church, in which she held membership, conducted by Rev R E Fleming of Norwood, her former pastor, assisted by Rev Combs.
