- Helen was born 25 May 1899 at Aledo, Illinois. Helen's father was James H. Crane and her mother was Vilera Sloan. James and Vilera Crane lived at Joy, Illinois. James was a farmer. He was born in 1837 in Montgomery County, Indiana, and Vilera was born in 1861 in Mercer County, Ill. James died in 1916 and Vilera died in 1951; burial at the Aledo Cemetery.
